The STEM event of the summer for schools - The Big Bang Fair - returns once again to the NEC in Birmingham in June.

The free event is the UK’s largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people. The Big Bang Fair 2025 will take place on Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 June, welcoming students in year 6 to year 8 from across the UK.

From today, schools can secure free tickets to attend, allowing teachers to inspire their class with the exciting career possibilities in STEM.

Students can learn more about careers from all across the science, engineering and tech industry – from cutting edge digital careers, to the rail and automotive industries to energy, sustainability and more.

Young people will have the opportunity to meet STEM professionals, as well as join exciting live shows and inspiring career panels. There will also be plenty of hands-on activities to get stuck into, including coming face to face with snakes, lizards and tarantulas and learning about how animals have influenced humans to coding and flying drones.

Phillip McShane, Associate Director - Big Bang Programme at EngineeringUK, commented:

“The Big Bang Fair is a brilliant opportunity for employers and professional engineering institutions and the education and careers community to help ignite a passion for STEM and inspire young people from all backgrounds to pursue careers in their sectors. “

In 2024, over 20,000 young people attended The Fair last year, along with over 2,000 teachers. A teacher who attended in 2024 commented:

“It helps students see the variety of science options open to them, the different careers, things which they wouldn't have thought of otherwise. Hopefully, when we're in the classroom it's all these skills we can build towards - all these different careers and hopefully inspire them to go into.”

A student inspired by STEM careers in transport also shared:

"Now, I've known about the job opportunities that can come from working with railways, and I didn't realise how interesting it was before."

The Big Bang Fair 2025 is an opportunity to join us as we celebrate student projects entered into The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition. Winners will be announced, including the Big Bang UK Young Engineer, UK Young Scientist and UK Young Technologist of the Year, supported by Siemens.

The Competition is a free STEM competition open to young people in the UK aged 11 to 18 in state funded education, who are home educated or who enter as part of a community group. Got a STEM project up your sleeve? There’s still time to enter! The Competition closes for entries on 26 March, so don't miss your chance to win big and celebrate your students' skills.

Places at The Big Bang Fair always book up quickly – schools are advised to book their free tickets early, to avoid disappointment.
