Have you got a STEM project to showcase to the world? The Big Bang Competition is a fantastic opportunity for young innovators to share their work with judges, gain valuable experience, and win incredible prizes.
Here’s a simple guide on how to enter:
Step 1: get a parent, guardian, or teacher involved
If you're under 18, you’ll need a parent, guardian, or teacher to help complete your entry.
Step 2: tell us about yourself
Help us get to know you! To complete your entry, we need to know your name, what school or community group you attend, and if you're working solo or with a team. There’s no limit to team size, whether there’s 2 or 10 of you!
Step 3: choose your project stream and discipline
Select the stream, discipline, and themes that best describe your project. Whether it’s science, engineering or technology, don’t worry too much - pick the category that you think fits your work best.
- Science projects typically focus on experimentation and your process – perhaps you’re trying to answer a question. You’d use your core STEM subjects like biology, chemistry, physics and maths.
- Engineering and technology projects focus more on the outcome or design and are trying to solve a problem. You might think about a design or invention, and use things like prototypes, programming and coding or build models.
Step 4: share your written or video entry
You can submit your entry in two ways: written or video (or both!). For written submissions, you’ll need to provide an overview, concept, project process, outcomes, and reflect on your next steps. Don't forget, the entry form offers handy hints on what to include.
For video submissions, make sure you cover the same points and explain your project in detail. Videos should be no longer than 3 minutes. Check out our guide on how to film a video entry for technical advice on bringing your entry together.
Feel free to add supporting materials like posters, diagrams, prototypes, presentations, or reports that you’d like your judges to see.
Step 5: submit by 26 March 2025
Enter The Big Bang Competition before the deadline on 26 March 2025. Projects don’t need to be perfect (or even finished!). It’s all about the journey and practicing your STEM skills.
Start your entry today and show the world what you’ve created! Every student who enters will get feedback from real scientists and engineers.
